4.19.2010working on something new...
I've had this idea for quite some time and now I've found the perfect medium to make it happen. I like to use my original art on different forms which I can then turn into jewelry. Being able to express myself creatively is something that I've felt driven to do my entire life.
So here are some photos of my newest endeavor...you'll have to wait and see what they become. Do you think you can guess what they'll be? close up: So be on the lookout in days to come for the finished product. :) cheers! xo diane

These hoop earrings are so popular that I give my right arm a good work out almost every week! I will do 24 pairs today to start with and that doesn't include the regular jewelry that I will be making later. You know to just put down the hammer and step away when your hand starts going numb....
Here they are in their holding bowl: And then hammered with much love. Its truly a great way to get out my frustrations too... You can find these little beauties finished in 4 different sizes on my website here. cheers! xo diane

10.14.2009what i'm working on today....
I just thought I'd share some pictures of what I'm working on right now. I often forget to just take a few snaps as I'm working, so here I am in my studio today coming up with new shapes.
I'm listening to 80's music via the "Duran Duran" station on last.fm today. I really love 80's music; the good electronic stuff like ABC, The Human League, Berlin, Alphaville etc. certainly never the hair bands (like Poison etc...blech!) I mean, I sit here anywhere between 9 - 13 hours so I need something to keep me going. These songs are completely taking me back to high school & college. When times were certainly easier & I had hopes & dreams for my future. I'll try to remember to post more pics of my daily goings-on. I do so much that I should just start snapping all the different facets of what I do in a week. I think most people would be surprised at just how many hats a small business owner wears. Crazy. Well, gotta get back to my music, uh, I mean work.... cheers! xo diane

10.05.2009Booth set up
After all of that crazy work last week to get my new booth displays made I thought I might share some pictures with you.
Here's the whole thing set up in my living room as I was working on it. I really didn't have to change anything when I got outside. I was a bit worried that some of the displays might be a bit light and would blow over in the wind, but with a little clear packing tape strategically placed, I didn't have any problems at all. I made the table cloth myself out of some white vinyl. It worked out perfectly and I think gives the whole table a clean & professional look. All the other displays I made myself and just gave them an updated look with some white lacquer. I think the effort was well worth it. I really enjoyed challenging myself, yet again, to keep updating and making Tasty Jewelry bigger and better than ever. cheers! xo diane

7.26.2009Red CarpetSo what do you wear for your first red carpet experience? Well, I decided to go vintage and try on a dress that I hadn't worn in about 7 years. Lo and behold, it fit! Its a Givenchy inspired "little black dress" that I accented with a black leather obi style belt. My purse was a vintage silver clutch which held the essentials; iPhone, lipstick, money & emergency granola bar in case I got hungry. :) Here's a closer shot of Rob, Aimee and I: We weren't really sure who the press was stopping to interview. It seemed sort of random so I thought maybe they'd grab me, but I wasn't so lucky. The Austin Fashion Awards show was great. There were so many people there it was electric! Alpha Rev started the show while people were getting seated. Jenny Hart was the charming emcee of the evening, making everyone feel welcome with a lovely sense of humor too. The Soldier Thread & Ume both played live during 4 different designers' fashion shows and The Octopus Project closed out the night. We had a great time chatting and meeting people that I feel like I could do that every week! I am going to miss having so many social events to attend. A big thanks to Matt Swinney of Launch 787 for putting together this whole beautiful week. He and his support team did an amazing job. And kudos to Austin for being so stylish!
