Versailles collection

During my recent visit to Versailles we also explored the grounds of the Grand Trianon and the Petit Trianon which were both separate residences located in the northwestern portion of the grounds.

I was fascinated by the opulent fabrics, vivid colors & overall feminine beauty that was encompassed within these buildings. Spending the day amongst all of this lavishness was bound to have some effect on my designs at some point and it has.

There are two different ways that I see these designs breaking down. One being the over-the-top elaborateness of the furniture, the accessories & the scale of whole place. Its got my head in a tizzy about bold & faceted "grand" pieces that would be one-of-a-kind and quite luxurious. The other takes its cue from the more feminine side of the experience. The fabrics with all of their rich & subtle hues, floral motifs, damask prints & overall softness.

Here are a few pieces that I've already made with the latter in mind. I've used softer colors, antiqued brass & vintage inspired findings but wanted to introduce the idea of faceted crystals into the mix. I found these great metal "tulip" shaped forms which really lent themselves to the overall look I was going for.

start of the new year

i've had several ideas of what i could do to make myself be more consistent with the posts, i.e. daily thoughts, creative influences, "themed days", i just can't seem to get it off the ground. so i start the new year with an attempt at more frequent posting...

so here's one for today. i'm currently working on taking tons of old jewelry that i have and getting it organized for a sale going on here in austin in a few weeks called "le garage" sale. its just that, but with a twist. tons of fantastic local boutiques have booths and they put all of their clearance merchandise out for ridiculous prices. meaning they are practically giving their stuff away.

my friend annemarie beard did the show last fall and invited me to share a booth space with her so i said yes. now i'm getting all of this stuff together that i just want to get out of my way...a perfect chance to make room for all new goodies for 2009!

i've been so busy designing new graphics and getting ready to do a major overhaul on the website! each and every graphic is original and its taking me awhile to weed through all of them....whew! this is one of my favorites, the birdcage!

look what i've been up to....

here is a photo of the latest necklaces that i've been working on for my www.tastyjewelry.com website.



i just got that mini, twisted, sterling silver chain at the latest bead show here in austin. i was inspired by its delicate nature to come up with some small pendants to hang from it. they are 5/8" square so not too big. and i used completely original artwork that i made myself.

the mod teardrops and bird graphics will be available in several colors and the necklace will retail about $36.

i should have it up on the website in about a week or so....

oh, and have i mentioned that my best friend caroline is coming to visit me from chicago? yeah, that's where i used to live you know. for 14 years. i miss it.

valentine's day goodies

i am currently working on a few new goodies for the upcoming valentine's holiday. some really cute "floating" heart earrings...think teardrop hoops with a printed heart (with original artwork mind you) that will dangle from one side. they will come in 3 different designs and will be available for a limited time only...of course.

LP record producer

i could call myself a record producer today. i'm making about 20 pairs of my popular LP record earrings for the show and one pair for an online order. these little babies have been seen in the likes of alternative press magazine, metal edge magazine, and beauty launchpad magazine.

i love them and they feature a tiny swarovski© crystal rhinestone too!!!

making new earrings

this week i'm working on new earrings and accessories for the stitch austin show...and for the website in general. i will be posting now as much as possible to share with you the progress that i'm making on the new stuff.

i'm hoping to participate in a few more craft shows this season. we'll see.

new fun craft kits

i have been working on new craft kits to sell at this year's stitch austin show on saturday november 10th. they are fun kits with loads of different goodies inside to whet any crafter's appetite.

they will each include 3' of stylish ribbon, seed beads, colorful paillettes, ovals, and flower shapes, metallic sequins (both silver & gold), and assorted glass beads. each one will also have a set of 4 silver bob pins, a bob pin with a disc at the end, one plastic cabachon and a pair of silver plated hoop earrings. you can see my workbench in the process of getting together the turquoise group here:


all of these goodies will come in a convenient super cool clear plastic tube, so you can see what you're getting. i will offer them by color and they will retail for around $10 each. not a high price to pay for creative inspiration. they will make great stocking stuffers for newbie crafters and seasoned veterans alike.
