Website is updated!!!!

I've been working on changing the website for some time now. Adding new things, taking off others, and now it's finally done. Well, almost...

"Tasty" is the section where you'll see the printed graphic & colorful goodies that have been a staple on the website. "Delicious" is the section where you'll see modern, contemporary jewelry using semi-precious stones & materials. And now I've decided to add a new section called "Delectable" where the designs will cater to brides & bridesmaids. I've been designing for them for some time now and decided to finally make it "official" and add some goodies to the site. Unfortunately, that area is still under construction so please check back soon for the updates...

You can check out the updated tastyjewelry.com here:

Hope you like what you see...let me know what you think!!!

working on something new...

I've had this idea for quite some time and now I've found the perfect medium to make it happen. I like to use my original art on different forms which I can then turn into jewelry. Being able to express myself creatively is something that I've felt driven to do my entire life.

So here are some photos of my newest endeavor...you'll have to wait and see what they become. Do you think you can guess what they'll be?

New bob pins online!

I've been making these bob pins for awhile, but somehow haven't found the time to add them to the website until now...

There are two sizes and they come in all sorts of luscious candy colors for only $10 per pair! Each one is hand made and features a Swarovski® crystal rhinestone accent.

The minis measure 1 1/4" long and are great for fine or short hair.

Photobucket

The regulars measure 1 7/8" long and are great for sprucing up your 'do or for when you are growing out those crazy bangs. You all know what I'm talking about...

what i'm working on today....

I just thought I'd share some pictures of what I'm working on right now. I often forget to just take a few snaps as I'm working, so here I am in my studio today coming up with new shapes.

Photobucket

I'm listening to 80's music via the "Duran Duran" station on last.fm today. I really love 80's music; the good electronic stuff like ABC, The Human League, Berlin, Alphaville etc. certainly never the hair bands (like Poison etc...blech!) I mean, I sit here anywhere between 9 - 13 hours so I need something to keep me going. These songs are completely taking me back to high school & college. When times were certainly easier & I had hopes & dreams for my future.

Photobucket

I'll try to remember to post more pics of my daily goings-on. I do so much that I should just start snapping all the different facets of what I do in a week. I think most people would be surprised at just how many hats a small business owner wears. Crazy.

Well, gotta get back to my music, uh, I mean work....

new items on the website

I have just updated the website with two new styles of earrings! Just in time for Summer and all of those cute shorty shorts and sundresses we'll be wearing!

The first one is a colorful trio of lightweight oval shaped plastic pieces accented with tiny beads inside a cutout. These earrings are shown in "berry" but are available in 12 delicious & juicy colors!

Photobucket

The second style was inspired by its smaller counterpart. It is a graphic printed acrylic disc that hangs within a large metal hoop ring. Super cute, bold and colorful! This style is shown in "poppy aqua" but is available in 51 different graphics.

Head over to the website and check these Summertime beauties out!

etsy shop now open

I've decided after long last to try to post a few items over on Etsy. If you don't know what that is, perhaps you've been hiding under a rock for the past year or so... Okay, so perhaps I'm being a little hard on you. Etsy is a website where people have their own "online shop" and predominantly features handmade goods. You can also find supplies, vintage items etc. but its mostly about all things hand crafted.

Since I have my own website I was reluctant to join, but since everyone and their brother seem to be on it, well, this little lemming decided she'd go over there too.

I have added a gallery view on the sidebar of what I have listed online. You can check out my site: www.tastyjewelry.etsy.com and even subscribe via RSS feed so that you are notified when I post new goodies.

I've decided to place newer items that don't really seem to fit my "graphic and mod" sense that I have on my website and it's a great way to try out new designs. Its a whole lot of work to list the items, but if its going to drive more traffic to my current website and get my name out there more, then hey, I'm all for it.

Let me know what you think. I'd like to keep adding new things and even plan to use it to list "reduced priced" items. Ah, I'm sure you'll like that part. :)

what i've been working on....

its march which means that the annual SXSW conference is coming up soon. each year thousands of interactive, film & music junkies travel to austin to meet up & exchange ideas of what is going on in their field. this year in conjunction with Guero's Taco Bar i have organized an all local handmade austin market. there will be vendors selling all sorts of local & handmade goods.

well, since this is an awesome opportunity for me to showcase my designs, i have been keeping myself busy preparing for the event.

these are discs for bob pins:

and these are 800 baubles that have now become magnets. whew! what a job!

Photobucket

in these photos you are able to take a peek at some of my *new* graphics for the spring/summer 09 line! i will be updating the website sometime in the next week. (if i can catch my breath.) never a dull moment around here lately...

trunk show at Adelante

i will be having a trunk show at Adelante boutique here in austin this friday & saturday from 10 am - 5:30 pm. Adelente is located at 1206 w. 38th street in the 26 doors shopping center.

i will be featuring many new designs all of which are not even on my website yet. i've been experimenting with some old techniques that i did years ago, but have modified them. here is an example...

wave earrings

tricia, the owner and a friend, just loves my lemonade cookies so she's requested that i bring them as well. a not too sweet concoction of a delicate & tart cookie on the bottom with a sweet & light sugary glaze on top. very refreshing and lemony! i'll be making them in the "pink" variety just perfect for that upcoming holiday... packaged by the half dozen for around $4.

all items are wonderful little indulgences for anyone. so if you are in the area please stop by and say hello!

cheers!

the new fall line is here!

its been several weeks in the making and finally the new FALL line is here! i've been so busy creating new graphics that reflect my modern sense of style and i hope you all enjoy them. i've used rich colors in addition to simple designs to create graphics that i can call "tasty".

here is an image of my new front page...but really, you have to dig around the site to get an appreciation of all of the new goodies available.

new website

i am really excited about the new pet i.d. tags that are available. there are 50 different styles from which to choose AND you can also custom design your own! they are lightweight which also makes them great for smaller pets too. my cat, gunner, has been the test model for these for about 2 1/2 years. (you think i would have put them on the website before now! sheesh!)

Photobucket

so, i'm excited to say the least and i am looking forward to a wonderful fall/winter season.

new square pendants

i've been busy working on making these new square glass pendants. i do all the artwork myself on my trusty mac, then print out the images and seal them under a piece of hand cut square glass. i couldn't find the right bales to use (most of them WAY too expensive) so i decided to make them myself. bales are the metal finding that you attach to a pendant to allow it to hang on a piece of cord or chain. often times when i can't find just the right finding, i figure out a way to create it on my own. i think that also keeps my pieces truly like no other.

here are a few pics to see just how many of these i've made.

all lined up

the most popular designs i have right now are the owls (which i also drew myself!)

austin is gearing up for its 7th annual austin city limits music festival happening sept 26th - 28th. if you EVER get a chance to come down here for it, do. you won't be dissapointed. the foo fighters are headlining this year as well as beck, robert plant & allison krause, david byrne, the raconteurs, gnarls barkley, vampire weekend, hot chip and many more.

parts & labour is a store where i sell my work and they are going to have a booth setup at the festival. i will be showcasing funky bauble magnet sets and these fabulous square pendant necklaces. you can find the bird designs here and the graphic designs here.

oh, and i don't want to forget to say that i got a blog mention on the fabulous purplepinkandorange blog yesterday. amy is so creative and generous. you MUST go check out her blog and see what's happening in the indie world.

i've been a busy girl again, this time adding some new home accessories to the site in the form of candle holders. i came up with the idea when i realized that i had some really great ribbon that i wasn't using and some candle holders that needed to be fancified!

here are the results...

this one is the fancy one, available in 15 different colors and patterns!

and these are the mesh ones available in the three colors you see:

the updated website is now up!

seeing as i have not blogged in about 2 weeks you might be wondering where i've been. well, i have been as busy as a bee updating my website with all sorts of new designs using original artwork.

here is an example of one of my new offerings where i've used my original artwork, printed it onto acrylic, then added a metal ring accent. this is a new design since i've put the disc onto a post style earring. cute and lightweight.

ooh, a bonus post

i've been working my little fingers to the bone today and it's still not over yet. here is a quick shot of some 17 pairs of new earrings that i am working on presently. (7:15pm central standard time)

work

oh, and that's not including the 30 other pairs that i made earlier (different style) and the 95+ discs that are waiting for their "tasty" treatment. all this without the aid of caffeine. (because i can't have it. although i do love a decaf iced americano...black) well, no one can call me lazy!

i'll have more pics of the newbies soon! can't wait....
